The Logan County Lady Cougars faced the Bowling Green Lady Purples on Monday afternoon. The Lady Purples would score early in the game and continue to increase their gap against the Lady Cougars. The Lady Cougars would finish the game with a 9-1 loss.


The Lady Cougars had a rough start to their game on Monday. The Lady Cougars would not be able to get any runs and their defense would let the Lady Purples slip through and score. The Lady Purples would lead 2-0 going into the third inning.


Neither teams would score in the third inning, and the Lady Cougars were still not able to do much offensively in the top of the third. The Lady Purples would fight hard in the inning and add three more runs to their score. The Lady Cougars would fall behind 5-0.


In the fifth inning, senior Shelby Milam would get a hit for the Lady Cougars. Eventually, Meagan Ferguson would get a hit to send Milam home. The Lady Cougars would end the fifth inning down 5-1. At the bottom of the sixth, the Lady Purples would add four more runs to their score. The Lady Cougars would only have one more change to catch up in the top of the seventh.


Unfortunately, the Lady Cougars could not get any good hits. The Lady Cougars would fall 9-1 to the Lady Purples.


Senior Victoria Cates would pitch six innings for the Lady Cougars. Cates would end the night allowing seven hits, nine runs, she would walk four and strikeout two.


The Lady Cougars would get seven hits in the game also, but Meagan Ferguson would excel offensively with three hits and one RBI.


Weather permitting, the Lady Cougars will compete in the Spartan Invitational this weekend starting tonight at South Warren.
