The Logan County Lady Cougars would finish in third place of the annual First Southern National Bank Christmas Classic tournament The Lady Cougars would get their first two wins of the season this past week against the Middlesboro Lady Jackets and the Russellville Lady Panthers.


The Lady Cougars faced the Middlesboro Lady Jackets first in the tournament. The Lady Cougars would begin the game just ahead of the Lady Jackets and finish the first quarter with a small lead of 18-16. The Lady Cougars would turn it up in the second quarter and begin to pull away from the Lady Jackets. They would end the first half with a nine point lead of 40-31.


The Lady Cougars would continue to fight hard in the third quarter of the game and maintain their lead, ending the third quarter up 51-39. The Lady Cougars would have a big fourth quarter, scoring 14 points, and would seal their win over the Lady Jackets with a score of 65-51.


Senior Katelyn Jones would lead the Lady Cougars with 23 points. Senior Laura Hunt would follow with 12. Brooke Barnes would finish with 10.


The Lady Cougars would go on to face the Livingston Central Lady Cardinals on Friday night. The Lady Cougars would get a rough start to the game and only score four points in the first quarter. The Lady Cardinals would lead 12-4 going into the second quarter.The Lady Cougars would work hard in the second quarter and catch up to the Lady Cardinals, trailing 15-17 at the end of the first half.


The Lady Cougars would continue to keep the game close in the second half of the game. The Lady Cougars would take the lead in the third quarter with a score of 26-24 as they went into the fourth quarter. The Lady Cougars fought hard, but it would be the Lady Cardinals who would come back with a win of 37-34.


Senior Laura Hunt would lead the Lady Cougars with nine points. Kapreshia Powell and Maegann Hardison would finish with eight points each. Jones would finish with seven points.


The Lady Cougars would go out with a bang on Saturday in the third place game against the Russellville Lady Panthers. The Lady Cougars would come out to the court and score 21 points in the first quarter with the Lady Panthers falling behind with only eight points. With 17 more points, the Lady Cougars would lead 38-17 over the Lady Panthers at the half.


The Lady Cougars would have another big quarter and score 21 points in the third. The Lady Panthers would continue to fall behind while the Lady Cougars kept working hard. The Lady Cougars would the game with a 35 point win of 69-34.


Senior Laura Hunt would lead the Lady Cougars with 18 points. She was followed by Brooke Barnes with 15 and Katelyn Jones with 10.


The Lady Cougars will host the Clash of the Cats this Friday and meet with the Lady Panthers again. The game will start at 6:00 p.m.
