Russellville teams have tough start to the season

The Russellville basketball teams continue to have a rough start to the season. The Lady Panthers travelled to Warren East on Monday to face the Lady Raiders and the Panthers travelled to Warren East on Tuesday to face the Raiders. Both teams would end the night with a loss.
The Lady Panthers started the game off with a small lead of 10-5 at the end of the first quarter. But the Lady Panthers were not able to hold on to the lead very long as the Lady Raiders would fly past the Lady Panthers and win the game 54-35.
Senior Khalia Hampton led the Lady Cougars with 16 points. Raegan Wilkerson finished with seven points. Devonna Sydnor and Loreal Chaney finished the game with five points each.
The Panthers would face the Raiders on Tuesday night and start the game off close. The Panthers would fight hard and end the first quarter only down 12-13. During the second quarter, the Panthers would begin to fall behind as the Raiders would take a 10 point lead of 38-28 at the half.
The Panthers would work hard and score 18 points in the third quarter, but the Raiders continued to increase their lead and ended the third quarter with a 21 point lead of 66-45. The Panthers were not ready to give up yet as they fought hard against the Raiders, but the Panthers were too far behind to catch up. The Raiders would end the game with a 23 point win of 87-64 over the Panthers.
Senior Barrett Croslin would lead the Panthers with 17 points. Croslin was followed by Pedro Rivera with ten points. Lee McMurry had nine points, Micah Naylor with eight points and Ricky Bellamay with seven.
These two teams will head travel to Todd County Central high school tonight to face their rivals, the Rebels. The Lady Panthers will begin the night at 6:00 and the Panthers will follow at around 7:30.
