The Logan County basketball teams competed against local teams on Monday night. The Lady Cougars travelled to Warren Central to face the Lady Dragons and the Cougars hosted the South Warren Spartans. Both teams played strong, but the Lady Cougars would fall 62-40 and the Cougars would fall 80-71.

The Lady Cougars started their game slow against the Lady Dragons and would trail behind them 6-11 at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Cougars had a big second quarter, scoring 15 points, but the Lady Dragons would out-score them and continue with a lead of 30-24 at halftime.

The Lady Dragons would pick up their defense and cause several turnovers in the third quarter, as they continued to increase their lead over the Lady Cougars. By the end of the third quarter, the Lady Dragons would have a 16 point lead. The Lady Cougars would pick up their game in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Dragons continued to dominate as they took the win of 62-40.

Senior Katelyn Jones would lead the Lady Cougars with 10 points. Jones would be followed by Maegann Hardison and Kapreshia Powell with nine each. Megan Lindsey would finish the game with five.

The Cougars would have a good start against the Spartans on Monday as they lead 16-13 over the Spartans at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter was intense between both teams as the Spartans fought hard to gain the lead. The Cougars would be able to hold on but the Spartans would tie the game at half with a score of 32-32.

The Cougars would come out to play a great third quarter, scoring 23 points, resulting in a 55-50 lead over the Spartans. But the Spartans were not done yet. During the fourth quarter they would score 30 points, racing past the Cougars to win the game 80-71.

Ben Wright would lead the Cougars with 18 points. Wright was followed by senior Landon Stratton with 14, senior Clint Knight with 11 and Garrison Rosser with 10.

Both Logan County teams will compete against their district rivals tonight as they head to Franklin-Simpson high school. The Lady Cougars will face the Lady Wildcats at 6:00 and the Cougars will follow at around 7:30.
