The Russellville High School football team improved to 7-0 on the season Saturday with a comfortable 53-6 win over Fulton County in the first district game of the season for both schools.
The Panthers wasted little time in putting the Pilots away and held a 40-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The period was highlights by a long touchdown run from quarterback Barrett Croslin, a punt return from Coco Darden and a fumble recovery that was ran back for a touchdown by Damarcus Hampton.
Hampton and Darden also added touchdowns on offense in the first quarter and Johnny Drumgole capped the period off with a rushing touchdown of his own to make the score 40-0.
Russellville took its foot off the gas in the second quarter and led just 46-6 at halftime following another touchdown from Hampton.
Russellville finished with over 300 yards of total offense while holding Fulton County under 50.
The Panthers will travel to Fulton City this week for their second district game before traveling to Mayfield on Oct. 25 for a matchup that will likely decide the district championship - and the top team in Class A. both Mayfield and Russellville are currently ranked first and second in Class A
