The Logan County High School boys’ soccer team lost 4-2 on Thursday to the Christian County Colonels, but then rebounded to end the season with a 7-2 win over Grayson County on Saturday.

It was Senior Night on Thursday and eight players were honored, including Kevin Costello, Zach Elamon, Will Hughes, Logan Johnson, DJ Lee, Cody McClellan, Jacob Moberly and Landon Stratton.

“This group of seniors are talented and we will miss them in the future,” LCHS coach Eric Evans said. “I have enjoyed coaching them and at the same time thought they could have accomplished so much more. I always appreciated their dedication and they will be hard to replace.”

In that game, Christian County scored first after 14 minutes into the first half. Landon Stratton would score a goal 17 minutes into the first half. Strattong would score again 30 minutes into the game. Christian County would come back to tie the game with 32 mintues in the game and that’s where the score remained at halftime.

Christian County would score two more times in the second half. The first after 10 minutes into the second half and the other with eight minutes left in the game.

“As far as the game goes, I thought we played hard in the first half and then kind of let down a bit in the second half,” Evans said. “I think we were one more goal away from finishing them off once we got up on them 2-1. They were starting to get rattled. Again the biggest problem that we had was a lack of communication, which continues to be very costly to us. If we would communicate better we would be very hard to beat. I hope they finally figure it out before we get to district on Tuesday.”

The Cougars begin postseason play tonight when they take on Todd County Central in the District 13 Tournament at Franklin-Simpson. Logan County split against the Rebels in the regular season, losing on the road and winning at home.
