American flags were flying and the big tents were up to welcome the customers of East Logan Water District’s Customer Appreciation Day on Friday, June 13 on the front lawn of the utility’s office in Auburn. The patriotic red, white and blue décor bring on the warm summer days as East Logan Water honors their customers. Hundreds of water customers joined in to help East Logan celebrate their 35 years of service.


Despite rain in the morning, the weather soon perfected for a summer fun-filled day for all who attended. The grill was hot with the all time favorite Nathan’s hot dogs and the fixings being served. And to top off the nice lunch, customers also enjoyed everyone’s favorite deliciously refreshing Chaney’s Dairy Ice Cream.


Scooter Davis was on site with WBVR for a live radio remote as customers spinned the birthday wheel and the children received coloring books and crayons. Many vendors were on hand including UK Cooperative Extension Agency, Air-Evac signing many customers up for the life saving membership and providing children with toy helicopters. The Auburn Fire Department had the big red fire truck on-site for children to climb up in and have their pictures made. Others joining in and providing valuable information for customers as well as give-aways were Logan Memorial Hospital, Logan County Good Samaritan, and Barren River Area Health Department. Customers attending received a limited edition East Logan Water 35th anniversary limited edition tee shirt.


East Logan was proud to unveil their new Hydration Station in their support of drinking tap water… it does a body good!


East Logan’s Chairman of the Board welcomed everyone and commissioner Carroll Browning gave a brief summary of East Logan’s history from where they started to where they are now. Randall Kelly with Kentucky Rural Water was the guest speaker showing support of KRWA and telling the customers what a great water district that East Logan Water truly is as well as how supportive and involved they stay with KRWA. East Logan Water received the most prestigious award from KRWA in 2012, the Wooden Bucket Award, for outstanding service, dedication and contribution to the development and distribution of water supplies throughout rural Kentucky. East Logan was also voted in the top three in the state in 2014 for the Best Tasting Water contest. East Logan Water strives to always serve its customers in better ways by keeping up with the latest technology and training.


Door prize winners include: Emma Heatwole, Jeri Scarbrough, Timothy Brom, Bill Matlock, Mac Laster, Leo Duncan, Levi Weaver, Dale Haley, Betty Crabtree, James Hinton, Clara Beachy, Jewell White, Kayla Scruggs, Michael Price, Mary Powell, Robin Hodges, Gail Woodall, James Jackson, Ella Stinson, Phil Hart, Steve Ezell, Ray Hoots and the winner of the $100 water bill credit was Russell Poore.


East Logan Water board, Bill Stokes, Carroll Browning and Loyd Houchens and the management extend a big thank you to all who attended the annual celebration and also invite customers that were not able to attend the event to stop by the office to pick up a free limited edition tee shirt, while supplies last. Customer Appreciation Day is one day a year that is set aside for East Logan’s customers to show each of them how much they genuinely appreciate serving each and every one.
