The inmate who escaped from the Logan County Detention Center on July 6 was caught on Monday thanks to the combined efforts of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department and the South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force.

On Monday, July 21, sheriff Wallace Whittaker began receiving information on the possible whereabouts of escaped inmate Christopher Scarbrough, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Department. As the day progressed, Whittaker and deputies received additional information that he was possibly living in the woods adjacent to East 9th Street in Russellville. Whittaker alerted agents of the South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force (SCKDTF) about the information and plans were made to try and capture Scarbrough.

Around 7:30 p.m., the SCKDTF informed Whittaker that after a lengthy foot chase, Scarbrough was captured and arrested. One agent from the task froce was treated at Logan Memorial Hospital for minor injuries that occurred during the arrest.

The SCKDTF was assisted on the scene by Sheriff Whittaker and deputies from the Sheriff’s Department, and the Russellville Police Department.

Scarbrough, 28 of Russellville, was transported back to the Logan County Detention Center and will face multiple charges following his escape, including fleeing and evading police.

Alecia D. Christmas, 33 of Russellville, was also taken into custody and will also face charges resulting from this case.
