An inmate at the Logan County Detention Center escaped the facility on Sunday, July 6. Authorities say 21-year-old Christopher Scarbrough of Russellville escaped the jail at approximately 1:38 p.m.
Scarbrough is a white male, around 5-foot-11 and 160 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. If you have any information on where he may be, call the Kentucky State Police at 1-800-222-5555 or the Logan County Emergency Communications Center at 270-726-4911.
Logan County Jailer Jim Ray said Scarbrough put in a request to visit the medical facility to see a nurse. When he passed through two secured doors to get to medical, the inmate walked through a door which had been unlocked for a trustee to go through. When Scarbrough heard the door pop open he ran through. Scarbrough then traveled through the RCC side of the jail and down two hallways out the back side of the kitchen, which has to remain unlocked because of fire conditions.
“We are looking into changing our policy to assure this doesn’t happen again,” said Ray.
This is the second time Scarbrough has escaped from incarceration. The time before was when on work release.
Scarbrough, who originates from the Lewisburg Road area, is serving time for burglary. He is classified as a state inmate.
