It is early at the lake and all is quiet. Yesterday, I saw the most beautiful ballet show on the water that I have ever seen since I have been here. There was the average “in board” motor boat flying through the water and on the back were two young people skiing and they were ever so graceful! They would swoop out of the wake of the boat after they got up on the water and would gracefully swing back and forth toward each other and then ever so far away from each other; back and forth until you thought you were watching a “Ballet on the Water”. I was so fortunate; it just seemed that I walked out the door right at the moment they came by my house. I stood in “awe” at this sight. Usually you see guys and girls position themselves on the water to learn how to ski. You see we live in a quiet area that this is possible.
The boat will “roar up” the motor and take off and they will flip and flop this way and that and then FALL! Then I feel so sorry for them. They try and try until I am worn out just looking at them because I want to just “walk out on the water” and hold them up while the boat “takes off”! But to walk out the door and see these two graceful people just “swoop in front of my house” was out of this world. I just stood there and watched until they were out of sight; just praying that they would come back through again. And much to my surprise, they did. I asked myself, where in the world were they all summer? Why did they not come by when all these poor young people were “trying their hearts” out to get up on those “little pieces” of sticks! Maybe that would have helped them see what all their effort was going to accomplish.
You know I have always loved to swim. Just float on a raft in the water and watch the clouds go by. Bounce around as the boats go by but never in my life have I ever wanted to be “jerked and pulled” through the water by a boat with my feet sitting on little boards that were not much wider than my foot! Better still never did I ever want to “BELLY FLOP” like some of these young people do and just come up and try again. I do give them credit for that…..they try until I am worn out looking at them. I just want to say, “Quit punishing your body, come back another day and simply TRY AGAIN”!
I am sure the lake will be full of people this coming weekend. You see summer will be officially over and I will be sad. It seemed like yesterday that Memorial Day was here and I thought to myself, man I have the whole summer to enjoy this place! Then the 4th of July came and I have always said, “Watch out the rest of the year will FLY and it did”! But this weekend is the time for everyone to enjoy the fact that we still live in a country that is free for you to do anything you want; even BELLY FLOP all day long in front of my house. If you are on the lake this weekend and see a crazy person with a sign that says “try again; don’t give up” then you will know it is me….old TG
I do have a sad story to tell you. Wayne of Wayne’s place is leaving. But not to fear Kevin will still be in charge giving you that famous smile when you walk in the door. They serve the best breakfast. If you have not tried it, then you need to join the “coffee club” that meets there every morning. I must say they have a “gay old time”. Telling fish stories and things they use to do years ago. I guess this tells everyone that I have just about quit cooking! Since only one person replied to my “RECIPE CONTEST”, I guess all of you have quit also. I will say I have eaten at the new “Deans Place” and it was pretty good. Then Friday night, we dropped by Haley’s Roost and man, I did not know they had music. Ask me if I enjoyed music with my dinner! Then the Hubby had to ruin it all when he asked me, “Hey, when are you going to turn on the stove again”. I won’t mention what happened next!
Since this is all the news I have for today, I will say so long, be good and don’t celebrate too much on this LAST DAY OF SUMMER weekend. Be sure you give me a little wave as you past by on your boat and if you are not on the lake, then think about me. You can wonder if old TG is enjoying the moment! You can bet I am….every minute of it. Bye now.
