Logan County Sheriff Wallace Whittaker was involved in a high speed chase with James Wilson, 29, of Sharon Grove Thursday, April 13.

Wilson refused to pull over for the sheriff, who attempted to perform a traffic stop after seeing him pass several vehicles in a no-passing zone on Main Street in Lewisburg.

The sheriff chased the fleeing Wislon on KY 107-Deerlick Road. The chase ended at a residence where Wilson jumped out of his vehicle and fled on foot. Sheriff Whittaker chased after Wislon as he fled into the woods. He was later apprehended, arrested, and taken to the Logan County Detention Center.

Wilson is being charged with improper passing, fleeing or evading police 1st degree (motor vehicle), wanton endangerment 1st degree (police officer), fleeing or evading police 2nd degree (on foot), and criminal mischief 1st degree.

Sheriff Whittaker was assisted by deputies Shaun Embry and Clint Wright, along with the Lewisburg Police Department.
