Logan County’s Lee Dockins recently returned from another successful trip to the Special Olympics.
Dockins competed in the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles earlier this month, winning four medals – three of them gold. She took first place in the all around, balance beam and floor events. She won bronze in the uneven bars and also won a fourth place ribbon in the vault.
This year at the Special Olympics World Summer Games, 6,500 athletes from 165 countries competed.
This is the third time Dockins has went to the World Games and brought home gold. She also attended the 2007 World Games in China and the 2011 World Games in Greece, winning medals both times.
She was accompanied this time by both her parents, Sharon and Harris Dockins; as well as her coaches at Logan County Gymnastics, Polly and Donnie Porter.
Dockins will be back in action in November at the Kentucky state Special Olympics in Lexington.
