On Aug. 15, 2015, the fourth annual Spaghetti Dinner & Auction will be held benefiting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The event will be held at the Logan County Extension Office, 255 John Paul Ave., Russellville at 5 p.m. An adult plate is $6 and a child’s plate is $3. The meal will include spaghetti, salad, bread, drink and a dessert.
All proceeds will go to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to help fund research for new treatments.
This dinner-auction is near and dear to local Leslie Spencer, who is organizing the event, and has a personal stake.
“I live and suffer from MS on a daily basis. I was diagnosed nine years ago. I am fighting to help find a cure for this disease not only for myself, but also the many others diagnosed with MS,” said Spencer.
MS is a disease that affects the central nervous system. Some symptoms of MS may include loss of balance, impaired vision and hearing, fatigue, muscle weakness, and in some, paralysis. Even simple everyday skills become increasingly difficult. Everyone is affected differently by these symptoms.
“Our team goal is to raise at least $7,000 this year,” said Spencer. “Last year we ended up raising $5,515 with this event. Please help us reach that goal.”
