A Russellville man was arrested Tuesday on charges of distributing and possession child pornography, according to a press release from the Kentucky State Police.
The KSP served a search warrant on Tuesday at the home of Allen C. Johnson, 43 of Russellville, after he was the target of an undercover investigation.
Johnson is charged with 12 counts of distribution and 25 counts of possession of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor.
According to the KSP report, Johnson was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. Detectives with the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after observing Johnson sharing images of child sexual exploitation online. This included images and video of prepubescent children engaged in sexual acts, the report said.
The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at Johnson’s residence in Russellville on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, by the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch. Officers from Russellville Police Department assisted on scene.
Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s Forensic Laboratory for examination. Mr. Johnson was lodged in the Logan County Detention Center. Each charge is a Class-D felony, punishable from one to five years in prison.
According to Kentucky law, a person is guilty of possession or viewing of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor when, having knowledge of its content, character, and that the sexual performance is by a minor, he or she: knowingly has in his or her possession or control any matter which visually depicts an actual sexual performance by a minor person; oriIntentionally views any matter which visually depicts an actual sexual performance by a minor person.
