United Way of Southern Kentucky is currently holding a region-wide food drive aptly titled “Feed the Need” across Allen, Barren, Butler, Hart, Logan, Simpson and Warren counties that will end on March 18th.
“Feed the Need” was created in 2009 in response to the increased need in our communities for access to basic needs including food. After speaking with the local food pantries that benefited from the drives in previous years, it is clear that assistance in providing a Safety Net of services like access to food is needed once again this year.
Since its inception, United Way’s “Feed the Need” Food Drive has collected over 467,000 non-perishable items for local food banks in Southern Kentucky.
More than 75 companies and organizations across Southern Kentucky have been holding internal drives to help collect items to support “Feed the Need” already this year!
Hundreds of volunteers are now needed to help with food drives at participating grocery store locations on Friday, March 17th (10 a.m.-6 p.m.) and Saturday, March 18th (9 a.m.- 1 p.m.). All donations will benefit food banks in the county in which the donations are collected. Email [email protected] to sign up!
The benefiting food banks include Allen County Schools Family Resource Center, Barren River Area Safe Space, BRANCHES of Barren County, Community Action of Southern Kentucky, Community Relief, Logan County Good Samaritan, Franklin-Simpson Good Samaritan, St. Vincent DePaul, and The Salvation Army.
