Come and join in the fun of the 6th Annual Federal Grove Maple Syrup Festival scheduled for Feb. 24-26.

This weekend is the 6th Annual Federal Grove Maple Syrup Festival (Feb. 24-26), and it will be a delicious combination of local sweetness. Federal Grove is a unique and historical bed and breakfast nestled right outside the City of Auburn. It is also a restaurant and a thriving Maple Sugar Works.

Federal Grove has always been known for hospitality dating all the way back to 1835 when travelers from Louisville or Nashville would stop over at Federal Grove for a short stay. By most accounts, Federal Grove, is the southernmost maple syrup producer.

The maple sap begins to flow in Mid-January and continues with periods of freezing and thawing through early March. The maple sap collection leads to the arduous task of boiling the sap until it reaches the point of syrup. It takes 35-50 gallons of sap boiled down to produce one gallon of syrup. Maple syrup is made from the sap of sugar maple, red maple or black maple trees. Trees are tapped and the sap collected is heated and boiled to evaporate the water content. The end result is maple syrup.

Federal Grove Maple Syrup is 100 percent pure Maple syrup, that is carefully filtered and bottled in a unique glass container. Owners guarantee you’ll find their southernmost maple syrup to be the best you’ve ever tasted.

Come on out this weekend to Federal Grove Friday, Feb. 24th, Saturday 25th and Sunday, Feb. 26th. Enjoy wonderful food, watch maple syrup demonstrations, and listen to great music and watch artisans demonstrate their craft. Artisans will have their work for sale inside a heated tent adjacent to the restaurant and maple sugar house. Last, but not least, stop by and pick up some Federal Grove pure maple syrup.

Festivities kick off each morning at 8 a.m. The Festival will end on Sunday at 2 p.m. There will be a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. (first come first serve), a Maple Syrup Sugarhouse Tour from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and a Family Style Dinner served from 4-8 p.m. with Maple Glazed Smoked Pork Chops (by reservation only).

You don’t want to miss this great time of fun and festivities at Federal Grove where you’ll experience a sweet “Taste of the Kentucky South.”

Federal Grove is located at 475 East Main Street, Auburn, Ky. For more information about the festival, contact Lee Blythe at 270-542-6106 or visit www.federalgrove.com.
