Local author Douglas Daech is now offering one of his books on paperback for those readers, who frankly, enjoy holding a book in their hands and flipping the pages as they open up a world of adventure and entertainment.

For the past six years Daech has offered e-books online at Apple, Sony, Barns & Noble and other websites. Thousands of books have been downloaded to readers all across the online world. But the new digital frontier of publishing hasn’t pleased everyone.

“Many people still like to hold a book in their hands,” said Daech. “Some people believe there is something special about opening the cover and turning the page.” Daech recognizes that fact and now has something to offer the traditional reader.

Released Dec. 20, 2016, Haunted Romance is available as a paperback at Lulu.com. Lulu.com is an online printer and storefront for authors and artists.

Daech said he himself was surprised at how many people he had spoken with that said they didn’t have e-readers and were looking forward to the paperback version of Haunted Romance.

“I thought most now used e-readers,” said Daech, “But everyone I have talked to was wondering when I would release my work in paperback. I feel the same way myself, I have two e-readers I never use.”

Haunted Romance is an easy to read, 180 page book offering the story of high school student, Tori Clark. She and her mother have moved to a new town, and they have a new home. Things are different for them in this new beginning, but Tori never expected to be sharing her bedroom with a ghost! Tori and the ghost struggle to solve a local cold case murder mystery. Along the way, a haunted romance forms between them. A love story spanning thirty years and crossing from life to death plays out as justice is brought to the murderer who still lives just around the corner.

Born near Detroit, Mich. and transplanted to Tampa, Fla., Douglas and his family eventually ended up in Russellville, Ky. He has been married to his soul mate Julie, for 17 years. They have two children, Pam and Dallas. Douglas has been an author for most of his life. A little bit of him comes through in everything he writes. Familiar locations and characters show through in many of his works. A reflection of Russellville can be seen in Seedy Hills, an Odd Little Town, and Warp Drive, Patent Pending begins in Tampa, Fla. And his new paperback, Haunted Romance takes place in Warren; a city with the same name as the city where he grew up in Michigan.

Besides many newsletter and small magazine publications, Daech has won an award for creative nonfiction in the 2007 Frank and Celia Conley Writing Contest at Western Kentucky University. In 2012 his first novel titled Time Travel and Dimensional Journeys was published as an e-book and is still available at most online retailers. The Haunted Romance e-book was published in 2013 at Smashwords.com and is still popular. In 2014, Seedy Hills, An Odd Little Town, was published featuring a rural town plagued with odd occurrences ranging from Bigfoot to UFOs. All three are available at Amazon.com.

“I think the first time I realized I could communicate through writing was in my 9th grade year during a Science project where I wrote a research paper on UFOs. I figured out that I could communicate well in writing,” said Daech, adding he is thinking about tackling a screenplay in the future.

Now, with the paperback release at Lulu.com, Haunted Romance is sure to offer this award-winning author’s work to even more readers. Whether you like the digital book or a traditional book, Haunted Romance offers you the choice, paper or plastic.

Daech’s early work is still only offered on e-books, however, he is working towards expanding that as well.

You can find Daech’s book at http://www.lulu.com/shop/douglas-w-daech/haunted-romance/paperback/product-22963178.html, or just go to Lulu.com and search for Haunted Romance. The paperback is offered at the old time paperback price of $6.99.
