Area agencies serve felony warrant, two taken into custody

Drugs, money and weapons confiscated by police.

A combined effort of the Russellville Police Department, Logan County Sheriff’s Department, Kentucky State Police, and the South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force initiated a felony traffic stop on 68 East at Lindsey Lane on Dec. 6, 2016, in reference to a wanted violent felon out of Louisville.

During the traffic stop, Sherman Watkins of Louisville, was taken into custody on a felony parole absconding warrant.

Officers located a loaded SKS assault rifle and handgun inside the vehicle of this violent felon. The driver, Tonia Flowers of Russellville, was also arrested for carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

Watkins was also found to be in possession of a substantial quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine.

Watkins was lodged in the Logan County Detention Center on charges of Felony Absconding Parole, Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree – 2nd or greater offense, and Promoting Contraband 1st Degree.

The investigating officer is MPO K-9 Chris Bellar.
