Six LCHS Alumni graduate from WKU Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program


On Saturday, Dec. 10th, six Logan County High School alumni will be graduating from Western Kentucky University’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program. These individuals have worked vigorously and diligently over the past 2 years in the program, striving to learn not only their nursing skills, but also how to care for patient’s using Evidence Based Practice in order to improve patient outcomes. While in their final semester, these students completed their 120 hours of clinical practicum working with a preceptor in a certain area of a hospital. Upon graduation, these students’ will be eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX), administered by the Kentucky Board of Nursing, and, if successful, will be licensed as Registered Nurses. These students are: Brittany May Harper, Brittany Victoria Martin, Caroline Marie Baldwin (Milam), David Bruce Vincent, Emma-Lee Powell, and Kelsey Victoria Blick.

Brittany Harper, daughter of Doug and Leslie Batten, was raised in Russellville, KY. She completed her practicum in the Burn Unit at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Upon graduation, Brittany will be working at Vanderbilt’s Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital in the Pediatric Cardiology Unit.

Brittany Martin, daughter of Matt and Leslie Martin, was raised in Adairville, KY. She completed her practicum in the Pediatric Oncology Unit at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Upon graduation, Brittany will be working in the Pulmonary Medical-Surgical Unit at the Medical Center of Bowling Green.

Caroline Baldwin, daughter of Chris and Laura Milam and wife of Aarron Baldwin, was raised on her family’s farm in Olmstead, KY. She completed her practicum at NorthCrest Hospital in the Medical-Surgical Unit. Upon graduation, Caroline will be working at Logan Memorial Hospital in either the Medical Surgical Unit and/or Intensive Care Unit.

David Vincent, son of Clyda (Marty) Haley and Clint (Terri) Vincent, was raised on his family’s farm in Auburn, KY. He completed his practicum in the Progressive Care Unit at Murray-Calloway County Hospital in Murray, KY. Upon graduation, David will be working in the Critical Care Unit at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.

Emma Powell, daughter of Janene Crooks and Jonathan Powell, was raised in Russellville, KY. She completed her practicum in the Ambulatory Surgery Department at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. Upon graduation, Emma will be working in the Neuro Medical-Surgical Unit at the Medical Center of Bowling Green.

Kelsey Blick, daughter of Shirley and Steve Blick, was raised in Olmstead, KY on her family’s farm. She completed her practicum in the Critical Care Unit at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, KY. Upon graduation, Kelsey will be working at Skyline Medical Center on the Cardiac/Telemetry Floor.
