If you are a business in the City of Russellville and your employees take a deposit to the bank after closing, the Russellville Police Department is just a call away to escort you safely to the bank. This is a service that has been offered for years, however, with anything, sometimes it’s forgotten.
“The Russellville Police Department provides a security escort to all businesses within the city limits,” said Police Chief Victor Shifflett. “All your employee will need to do is call the Logan County Emergency Communications Center (ECC) at 270-726-4911 when you are ready for the escort anytime (24 hours a day, 7 days a week), and an officer will come to the business.”
The officer will not need to get out of the vehicle or even speak to the employee when responding. They will just watch them walk out of the business and get into their vehicle. They will follow behind the employee until they get to the bank to make their deposit. Once the deposit is made and the employee is done, the officer will clear the escort.
This service is very helpful for any business, but especially those with large amounts of money to deposit.
“The service has been provided for years, even before I came aboard,” said chief Shifflett. “We want citizens to be safe and we want to assure their safety in all situations. You never know who may be waiting for a business to close, watching for employees to exit, and head to the bank. The officer following the employee will deter that type of criminal activity.”
Despite highly lit areas and surveillance cameras, criminals still can target the night deposit slots. You should always be aware of your surroundings when leaving your business with a cash deposit, and while approaching a banking institution. Never take for granted you are safe. You should never go to a nighttime bank deposit alone… ever! A person is very vulnerable when alone, in the dark, and carrying large amounts of cash.
