Logan County Tourist & Convention Commission’s first annual Decorated Hay Bale contest was a huge success. There were over 45 entries throughout Logan County.
“This was so much more than we ever thought for our first year,” said Dee Dee Brown of the Commission. “We would like to say a very special thank you to all of hay bale tour participants. Without you all this would not have even been possible.”
The contest began the first of October and ended with a judging from the community on Halloween.
Other counties have made a huge success out of this fun event. Neighboring Todd County has been having a successful hay bale tour for years now. There was no cost to enter the contest and prizes were given to the winners in several categories.
The Commission is always looking for ways to promote Logan County and to get residents and visitors alike to get out and enjoy the scenery. The Commission was hoping for a good turn out and they got one. This will usher in another contest next year as well.
“Thank you to all of those who donated hay for the hay bale creations. We will not name any since we do not have the names of all who donated,” said Brown. “But you all are the unsung heroes of our hay bale tour.”
Brown said this was the first in what the Tourism Commission plans to be many more in years to come for the Hay Bale Tour of Logan County.
There were 100 miles on the tour from one end of the land of Logan all the way to the other. There were 46 creations entered into the tour, however, there were even more after the tour began. Together the Logan County Tourism Board voted ,as well as Facebook votes from the pubic which determined the winners.
“We at Logan County Tourism are looking forward to next year’s Hay Bale Tour already,” said Commission President Janie Gregory. “We congratulate all of the participants and the winners.”
