Humane Society to offer vouchers for spay and neuter

The cat room at Logan County’s Animal Shelter is full, so all cats are being offered for adoption at a reduced fee of only $25. Humane Society organizers will screen perspective adopters as they always do, but are hoping by reducing the adoption fee, more people will feel they can afford to have that pet they have always wanted.

Other good news involving the Humane Society includes cat and dog vouchers for spaying and neutering at a reduced cost each month. Because of the great response received when the society offered them before, they have decided to run them monthly for 10 cats and 10 dogs.

“We have been notified from the veterinarian’s office this special will require a rabies vaccination and a kidney and liver test to make sure that your pet can handle anesthesia. Cost for this will be $35 to be paid at vets office. If you can not afford this please let the humane society know and we may be able to help,” said Amanda Castile, director for the Logan County Humane Society. A valid drivers license is required when picking up the voucher.

The Logan County Humane Society will be hosting a Charity Fun Dog Show on Aug 13 at Auburn’s “Dog Days of Summer” Festival. The event will be held at the large pavilion at the Auburn City Park. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. All breeds are welcome. The contest will judge best trick, best personality, bobbing for wieners, musical sit and overall champion.
