This year’s Summer Youth Drama Camp sponsored by the Russellville Arts Council has been a flurry activity this week and it all culminates Friday night with the first performance of “Seussical, Jr.”
Seussical is a fun musical, featuring many of the delightful characters of Dr. Seuss in lively song and dance. Approximately 70 students from second grade all the way up through high school have been working hard all week to get ready for the three performances, which will be Friday from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
The campers have been working on all aspects of the play every day this week from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Russellville High School. That has been in addition to several days of rehearsal that took place prior to this week.
Campers have learned each day about different elements of drama including dance, set design, working backstage, lighting, costuming and make-up. The camp cost just $25, which includes a camp T-shirt and a cast party.
You can help support the Russellville Arts Council and the students by attending any of the three performances this weekend. Tickets are just $5 each and can be purchased at the door of the Russellville Junior/Senior High School deGraffenried Auditorium.
