Slipping in between thunderstorms, seven members from a confirmation class in Escanaba, Mich., shared their enthusiasm for God’s creation by contributing and planting flowering butterfly bushes and a variety of hosta at two Logan County churches last week.
The newly minted members of First Presbyterian Church in Escanaba Mich., were here to enjoy the history and attractions in Kentucky and Nashville. As part of their giving forward in faith, they visited two churches, O’Roark United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church to plant flowering perennials.
At First Presbyterian, Elders Michel Zavaro and Bob Balance shared some history of the church. Both congregations were previous pastorates of their current interim minister, the Rev. Dr. Cheryl Duke.
The group were house guests of Dr. Duke and her husband, Elder Dick Wenzel. Also participating with the group were three adult volunteers and Confirmation lay leader, Elder Maggie Tall.
