Accident leaves vehicle engulfed in flames

The Logan County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single vehicle accident with injury on Orndorff Mill Road on Thursday, July 9, 2015, at approximately 11:40 a.m.

When units arrived they found 31-year-old Stuart Beaty of Adairville sitting in a yard approximately 200 feet from his vehicle. Beaty told deputy Billy Poole of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, that he was on his way to go fishing and ran off the roadway striking the ditch and some rocks.

After running off the roadway, the vehicle rolled over landing on it’s top and caught fire. Beaty was able to get out of the vehicle safely before it caught fire.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that Beaty was under the influence of drugs and was taken into custody. He was transported to Logan Memorial Hospital by Logan County EMS for treatment. After bring released from Logan Memorial Hospital, he was transported to the Logan County Detention Center and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence.

The accident is being investigated by deputy Poole, who was assisted by sheriff Wallace Whittaker and deputy Laura Hadden of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department. Also assisting on scene was the Logan County Ambulance Service and the Adairville Rural Fire Department.
