Arrest for outstanding warrant leads to additional charges


On Saturday June 18, 2016, at 6:48 p.m., Deputy Kyler Harvey of the Logan County Sheriffs Department observed Anthony Baird, 52, of Russellville, traveling westbound on US 68 East. Being aware Baird had an active warrant, deputy Harvey wade contact with Baird.

Baird was placed under arrest on the active warrant out of Logan District Court on charges of cultivating in marijuana (5 plants or more) 1st offense; possession of marijuana; possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. These charges are a result of an investigation by the South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force and the Logan County Sheriff’s Department on May 26, 2016.

At the time of arrest on June 18, deputy Harvey located a quantity of cocaine and drug paraphernalia on Baird’s person. In addition to the warrant, Baird was arrested and Lodged in the Logan County Detention Center on additional charges of possession of a controlled substance 1st degree, 2nd offense (cocaine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
