Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland participating in 2016 Kentucky Gives Day

Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland is among more than 200 nonprofit organizations from throughout the state that will participate in the fourth annual Kentucky Gives Day. The event, a 24-hour online giving campaign, begins at midnight and continues through 11:59 p.m. (EST) on the May 24th. During that time, Kentuckians near and far will have the opportunity to connect with causes they care about and make tax-deductible donations – all through a single online giving site, www.kygives.org

While the main event will be held on the 24th, donors may make a donation anytime between now by visiting www.kygives.org and searching “Feeding America Kentuckys Heartland”. All of the funds raised by the organization will be used to support their BackPack Program, a program that provides weekend food to children who struggle with hunger when school meals aren’t available.

“Thanks to a $3,500 matching gift from our Board of Directors, we are hoping to raise more than $7,000 to fight child hunger and support our BackPack Program. In our service area 1 in 4 children are at risk of going hungry, the money we are able to raise from KY Gives Day will go a long way to help these children,” said Amber Lyvers, FAKH Development Director.

Nonprofits participating in Kentucky Gives Day have raised more than $930,000 since the event’s launch in 2013. Anthem Medicaid, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Kentucky and Keeneland are sponsors of Kentucky Gives Day 2016, and the Central Kentucky Community Foundation is a regional partner of the event.

“Nonprofit organizations provide so much to Kentucky’s communities and with the support of our sponsors and partners, we are excited to again provide this opportunity for Kentuckians to give back to those who serve us and our neighbors so well,” said Danielle Clore, executive director of Kentucky Nonprofit Network, the state association of charities coordinating the event.
