Kentucky Sheriffs’ Boys & Girls Ranch marks 40th summer camp season

The Kentucky Sheriffs’ Boys & Girls Ranch summer camping program is now open for their 40th consecutive year, serving boys and girls from throughout Kentucky. The camp runs throughout June and July, serving both boys & girls, alternately throughout the camp season.

The Boys & Girls Ranch is a non-profit organization, serving Kentucky’s youth through a summer camping program designed to build their self-esteem, while teaching them respect for themselves, others and law enforcement professionals. The camp is free to the campers, thanks tot he dedication and support of our Sheriffs, members and contributors. The cost of serving the children is now well over $300 per week per child. With continued support from our contributors, we will continue to reach these most deserving youth.

“In addition to regular camp activities such as camp fires, arts & crafts, nature, sports, swimming, fishing, archery, and many others, the campers also enjoy race cars presented by local citizens, a fire prevention program by the Gilbertsville Fire Department, a drug awareness educational program by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, and the McCracken County Child Watch program,” said Jerry Wagner, executive director of the camp. “it will be a week filled with fun and learning for the campers. We hope the campers create a lifetime of memories during their stay, as well as learn the values of respect and many other life skills.”

Wagner added, “On behalf of the campers and staff, we send our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has lent their hand this year. Your outpouring of support is allowing us to continue our work and is greatly appreciated and has not gone unnoticed.”

Boys in attendance the week of June 28th are from the following counties: Boyd, Bullitt, Calloway, Carroll, Daviess, Fulton, Garrard, Graves, Grayson, Hardin, Jessamine, Livingston, Logan, Lyon, McCracken, Mercer, Muhlenberg, Pulaski, Shelby, Spenser and Union.
