The 2015 Logan County Fair is quickly approaching and the first activity to kick it off will be the Horse Show on July 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Logan County Ag arena. The remainder of the fair will begin July 18 through July 25.
This is the second year for the Horse Show, with last year bringing in over 300 entries.
“This is a huge event,” said show organizer Tammy Robertson. “It’s a lot of fun.”
The show is considered a contest show. There will be cash prizes with $1,200 added money in addition to entry fees.
“We already have confirmation that horses are coming from Tennessee, Indiana, Alabama and Missouri, not to mention horses from all over Kentucky,” said Robertson. “This is going to be a very nice show.”
This will be a pole bending-barrel racing event, which with added entry fees is a good pay back, said Robertson.
“It will be a timed event, so you won’t have any judges. There will be no doubt who the true winner is because everybody there will be able to see the clock,” Robertson said.
Robertson looks for the event to be bigger this year. She said that word of mouth has traveled and that is how shows like this one grow.
“I want to give a special thanks to the Logan County Fair Board members who went out to work the ground at the arena and got it ready for the show,” said Robertson. “It is very important that the horses have good ground when competing. People don’t want to bring out there $60,000-$100,000 horses if the ground is not worked and ready.”
The show is open to the public to come and watch, as well as those who wish to participate. It is not to late to enter your horse, as most do so the day of the event.
