Celebrating our nurses during National Nurses Week

Across the country, there are millions of nurses united by a deep desire to care for others in their greatest times of need. They are the compassionate faces at the bedside and the healing hands that work tirelessly to ensure that each patient receives safe, quality care.

At Logan Memorial Hospital, protecting the health and safety of patients is a top priority for our nursing staff. This year, we are proud to join the American Nurses Association and numerous healthcare organizations across the country to celebrate National Nurses Week (May 6 – May 12). During this special week, we honor our outstanding nurses and the exemplary job they do in creating a safe and comfortable environment for all who come through Logan Memorial Hospital’s doors.

The focus of 2016 Nurses Week is building a culture of safety at every potential care point. At Logan Memorial Hospital, we share this commitment and want every person who enters our facility to feel a sense of safety and security, knowing he or she is in the best hands. We do this by creating environments in which our employees and medical staff are highly engaged and empowered to speak up when a potential threat is detected. We work daily to encourage and nurture safe behaviors to ensure that every patient has a positive experience and optimal outcome.

Established in 1954, National Nurses Week recognizes nurses and their strong commitment to and fervent compassion for their patients. The annual recognition first honored the 100th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s service and leadership during the Crimean War. The week-long celebration ends on Nightingale’s birthday, May 12.

Nurses are a vital part of our healthcare system. With more than 3.1 million registered nurses practicing nationwide, they comprise the largest segment of the healthcare workforce and represent one of the fastest growing professions in the country. They are providers of hospital, in-office, home-based and long-term care – and often work long hours to care for their patients.

At Logan Memorial Hospital, care is our promise, and it is our fundamental responsibility to protect every single person we serve. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our nurses for their unwavering commitment to Logan Memorial Hospital and our community, and we hope everyone in Logan County and the surrounding areas will join us in celebrating the hard work and dedication of these skilled healthcare professionals.
