As a project for the International Lions Club 100th anniversary, the Russellville Lions Club recently installed a new 50-foot flagpole at the Russellville recreation complex on Armory Drive here in Russellville. The club has provided funds to the park director for a new ten-foot American flag as well.
We are also looking for new members to serve our community by joining the Lions Club, so check us out on Facebook at the Russellville Lions Club.
“The Lions Club is a wonderful organization,” said Russellville Mayor Mark Stratton. “The members of the club have always stayed in touch with us with anything we need. Mr. Foster had noticed the other day that we needed to get a flag out at the park. When it comes to patriotism the Lions Club has always stepped up for us and we are always appreciative.”
The Russellville Lions Club of Russellville was chartered in the year 1940. The local chapter celebrated their 75th anniversary in 2015. The non-profit civic organization meets bi-monthly on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays each month at 12 p.m. with a meal.
Their motto is “We Serve!” We serve first in our own community, but today more than ever we strive to serve the world as well.
The civic club’s mission statement is, “To empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs.”
