On Feburary 2, the Logan County Republican Women’s Club completed their 2015 “Pennies for Freedom” campaign by presenting the Ft. Campbell Fisher House with donations totaling $1,220. Larger donations, including an anonymous donor of $300 Antioch Baptist church, Mr. and Mrs. Belilies and many other contributors of smaller amounts made up this year’s generous total.

The program started several years ago when Zelma Cundiff asked “Is your freedom worth a penny a day?” Since 2011 this community has donated more than $7,295 to the Ft. Campbell Fisher House. This organization houses and supports the families of wounded and hospitalized servicemen at no cost to them during surgeries and rehab. Do you want to know more about this endeavor? How you can help? Want to make a donation?

The Logan County Republican Women’s Club will meet April 26th at GOP Headquarters, Main Street, Russellville, 5:30 p.m. The special guest speaker will be Gary Austin, pictured above accepting the 2015 donation. Mr. Austin is an enthusiastic volunteer with many years at the Fisher House with numerous stories of how the “House” has helped it’s many occupants. Please join us for this exciting kick off to our 2016 Fisher House Campaign “Pennies for Freedom.”

Light refreshments will be served. Questions? Please call 270- 725-9100 or 270 -726- 3801.
