Saturday’s All Dressed Up event held at Auburn’s New Life Baptist Church was a huge success, as over 40 young girls attended to find that perfect dress, shoes and jewelry for prom, while hearing how God loves them just the way they are.

“I cannot thank God enough for all of His blessings Saturday,” said All Dressed Up coordinator Corinn Simpson. “From those who volunteered their time to help make this event possible, to all those young girls who came out to have a good time while sharing the love of Jesus. We all had a wonderful day.”

All Dressed Up is an outreach that began in 2010 through New Life Baptist Church in Auburn. The church and many volunteers put on the event each year to minister to young girls and their families. The event began in 2010 when church member Melissa Jones felt it in her heart such an event would provide help with the expense of prom, along with words of encouragement to girls.

Organizers of the event work throughout the year gathering donated prom dresses, accessories and shoes, which are available for the girls to shop for free of charge. In addition the girls are pampered throughout the day as they spend time with ladies doing their nails, hair and makeup. The girls then participate in a fashion show where they get to experience the spotlight. Many girls brought their moms to spend the day with them.

“This is a very amazing day,” said volunteer and church member Judy Jones. “I have been blessed to have been involved in this event for years. To see the faces on these girls when they arrive is priceless. I love this day because it is a chance we get to tell about how much Jesus loves each and every one of them.”

Breakfast and lunch was prepared by Keith and Sharon Cox and served as girls chatted with one another and made friendships along the way. Allison Toon spoke to the girls about self-esteem and how God’s love was ever present in their lives and to rely on God during the tough times of being a teenage girl.

“All Dressed up was a beautiful success, and it was all made possible because of all the sweet people that worked so hard and the many girls who came out to share in this day. Thank you to everyone that gave, worked and spread the love to the girls and their families. Praise God, it truly was a blessed day,” said Simpson.
