On March 10, Matt Costello, a Representative with Brakebush Brothers, Inc., awarded Russellville Independent Schools with an Operator of the Year Award for 2015, for their support and loyalty in promoting their chicken products.

RISD was one of 52 companies nationwide who received the award. Food Service Director, Elaine Dixon, who received the award on behalf of the school district, has been working with Brakebush and purchasing their products for 5 years. Brakebush chicken products called “Kids Klassics” are Whole Grain items that promote participation in the Child Nutrition Program.

Their various products such as Hearts, Christmas Trees, Shamrocks, and Halloween shapes are served for special holiday meals. Superintendent, Leon Smith, stated special thanks to Elaine Dixon and our cafeteria staff for working hard with the nutritional standards to provide good meals for our students and providing fresh hot meals for our students “daily.” Eating nutritious meals plays a role in student achievement as well.
