A Russellville woman lost her life this week after an accident at the intersection of the Bypass and Main Street.
On Monday, June 29, 2015, at approximately 5:20 p.m., the Russellville Police Department and the Logan County Sheriff’s Department were notified of a motor vehicle accident with injury near the 68-80 Bypass and North Main Street in Russellville.
Upon initial investigation it was determined that Jason S. Gidcomb, 30, of Russellville, was eastbound on the Bypass, operating a 2001 Ford F-250 pickup truck when he collided with Maria W. Lawson, 50, of Russellville. Lawson was traveling southbound through the intersection.
Witnesses at the scene stated that Gidcomb disregarded the traffic control device prior to the collision.
Lawson was pronounced dead at the scene by Logan County Coroner Mary Givens.
The accident is being investigated by Captain David Kitchens of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department. He was assisted at the scene by Sgt. Mike Reeser and officer Casey Steenberger of the Russellville Police Department. Also assisting were sheriff Wallace Whittaker and deputy Jarrod Lyons of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, the Russellville City Fire Department and the Logan County EMS.
