United Way of Southern Kentucky’s ‘Feed the Need’ Regional Food Drive

United Way of Southern Kentucky’s 2016 Regional “Feed the Need” Food Drive will be held in Allen, Barren, Butler, Hart, Logan, Simpson, and Warren counties. “Feed the Need” was created in 2009 in response to the increased need in our communities for access to basic needs including food. After speaking with the local food pantries that benefited from the drives in previous years, it is clear that assistance in providing a Safety Net of services like access to food is needed again this year.

Therefore, companies and organizations in these counties will have the opportunity once again to help fill the shelves of local food banks by holding internal food drives. In 2015, 90 companies participated in the drives.

Food drives will also be held again at participating grocery store locations on April 29th (10am – 6pm) and 30th (9am – 1pm). All donations will benefit food banks in the county in which the donations are collected.

The benefiting food banks include Allen County Schools Family Resource Center, Barren River Area Safe Space, BRANCHES of Barren County, Community Action, Community Relief, Logan County Good Samaritan, Franklin-Simpson Good Samaritan, St. Vincent DePaul, and The Salvation Army.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

Start an internal food drive to collect non-perishable items within your workplace, organization, group, or church! All collected items need to be delivered to your local sorting site on April 29th.
