Sheriff Wallace Whittaker gave a citation report for the month of January at a fiscal court meeting last week. He also gave out a breakdown of how many events his department was involved in and a description of those events.
According to the citation report, the sheriff’s department had 69 traffic violations, 10 possession of marijuana cases, 3 for possession of cocaine, 5 for possession of methamphetamine, 16 for drug paraphernalia, 1 for possession of a controlled substance, 6 assault, 2 wanton endangerment, 2 alcohol intoxication, 6 DUI, 3 fleeing and evading, 2 burglary, 7 miscellaneous, 56 warrants, 1 sodomy and 1 disorderly conduct. This makes a total of 190 for the month of January.
In the events handout, there were 1,263 calls, the highest being 229 for attempt to serve and 231 for traffic stops. There were 15 animal incidents, 8 child custody disputes, 14 canine requests, 2 locked out of vehicle, 6 harassment, 3 loud noise, 40 business checks, 36 automobile accidents, 4 missing juveniles, 1 missing person, 26 reckless drivers, 11 road hazard, 14 theft of property, 22 suspicious vehicles and 11 suspicious persons.
For February 1 through February 22 there was 1,009 responses from the sheriff’s department. The largest being 168 attempt to serve, 149 traffic stops98 routine patrols, 2 missing juveniles, 18 reckless driving, 52 citizen assists, 11 domestic in progress, and 3 criminal trespass.
