Community Education will be offering three classes in the spring this year.
The classes include:
“Cooking healthy choices for Every Body” Get ready to learn how to cook making heathy choices! Once again, Community Education Director, Penni Nugent, and Logan County SNAP Ed Assistant, Paige Alexander, are partnering together to offer a “hands-on” Tuition-Free “healthy-choices” cooking class. At each class, you will have the opportunity to prepare, cook, sample healthy recipes, learn nutrition information, and receive free incentives. The cooking classes will be held at Logan County Cooperative Extension Office, 255 John Paul Rd., Russellville, KY. Possible recipe ideas: Tex-Mex Fajitas; Making your own salad dressings; Brown rice and Chicken; Thai-Vegetable Stir-fry; Enchilada Rice; Hawaiian Turkey sliders with mango/pineapple salsa; French Toast or Whole-Grain Strawberry Pancakes. We must limit this class to a maximum of 12 students, so call soon!!
“Dancing with Kelly” Once again we’re offering this fun class! Learn some dance styles and more! “Salsa”, “Waltz”, “Line dancing”, and “Swing dancing.” This six-class program may be just for you! Classes will be held Mondays at Stevenson Elementary School gymnasium at 6pm, beginning Monday, March 21, 2016, through April 25! The cost will be $60.00 per person and $100.00 per couple for the entire 6 weeks! The instructor is Kelly Lewis, choreographer with the Summer Musical, “Beauty and the Beast”, and instructor at Logan County Gymnastics. Basic Sign Language Class There has been an interest expressed in learning sign language and having the ability to communicate with the Deaf community. Therefore, we are attempting to offer a Basic Sign Language Class this spring, 2016. This 4-week program (2 classes per week) will assist you in learning the basics of conversational sign language. Sessions will begin, Thursday, March 24, 2016, and end Tuesday, April 19, 2016. Classes will be held at Stevenson Elementary School, in the cafeteria, from 5pm—6pm. The instructor is Jesse F. Vincent, currently a second-semester sign-language student at WKU. The cost will be $80.00 for 8 classes!! Sessions will include learning the alphabet, words you should know, numbers, common phrases, key expressions and important vocabulary words.
