Lewisburg’s Books-To-Go Library was vandalized recently and the Logan County Sheriff’s Department is looking for help finding the perpetrator or perpetrators.
On Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, unknown subjects destroyed a concrete bench outside the library valued at $350.
Melanie Henderson of Books-To-Go says the library is offering a reward to anyone that can provide information that results in the arrest of the individuals responsible for the destruction.
Books-To-Go is located at 155 Front Street in Lewisburg. Those who volunteer their time to the library struggle on a monthly basis to keep it open to the public. They hold fundraisers throughout the year, accept donations from individuals and businesses and received a contribution from the Logan County Fiscal Court.
“This is just another struggle the library has to face,” said Henderson, a longtime volunteer. “It’s like stuff disappears all the time, but this recent problem just adds another hardship to the library. I hope we can catch who did this and bring them to justice.”
Henderson said there is nothing in town for the young people to do.
“It seems like mischief is the biggest fun they have,” said Henderson, who wonders if it wasn’t kids.
Henderson said she is willing to hear ideas on what could be done for the youth in Lewisburg. She said it is a need that needs to be filled.
