You may have earned your GED, and don’t even know it!

Sharyl Markham - Logan County Adult Education

Have you heard that the GED test scores have been lowered to a passing grade of 145? You may have your GED and not even know it, as several of our students have found out. If you or anyone you may know, attended classes from January 1, 2014 through now, please contact Logan County Adult Learning Center to set up an appointment so we can discuss your hard earned standing! Having worked so hard toward earning your GED, now is the time to reward yourself and finish.

Another great achievement that we are offering our students is to earn a Para Education Certificate. If, once earning your GED, you would like to work in a school as an assistant, or work in the classroom, one must pass this test. We are offering this test, free of charge.

And, we still are offering the National Career Readiness Certificate, which many employers are requiring.

So, once you earn your GED, you can also walk away with a NCRC and Para Education Certificate, which are other great tools to help you succeed to either enter college or better equip yourself to land that great job that you are interested in applying for.

Next week is progress testing week, so this would be a great time to come back. By enrolling you will be registered in the new Focus Career program which creates and posts your resume to all the local firms that are hiring, build your computer skills, and get you ready for either college or getting the best job that fits your needs, all free!

Other new programs that are being offered by Logan County Adult Education are Parenting classes, a class for new and existing parents that just want to meet each week, sit around and chat, eat a little something, and learn about new or better ways to parent. This class involves both the parents and the children. One of the other new programs that we will be offering is called “What Color Is Your Parachute?” This book is the best-selling job-hunting book in the world, one of the All-Time 100 Best Nonfiction Books – TIME. Whether you’re searching for your first job, were recently laid off, or are dreaming of a career change, this book will guide you toward fulfilling and prosperous work. This class involved reading the book and working with the handbook that is offered. These are two very exciting classes that will be offered to anyone, regardless of their educational background.

Please come in and start the New Year with a bang! Get ready to start your successful future by doing something for yourself, give yourself a gift that no one can take away from you, graduate and earn your GED, become a more informed parent, and learn what career path would be best for you!
