Local arrested, suspected drugs found


Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies conduct stop and fine suspected drugs.


At approximately 2:28 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, Sgt. Robert Toombs of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, conducted a traffic stop on 68 East on a 2004 Blue Lincoln Aviator driven by Arndre L. Beard, 49, of Russellville.

Upon conducting the stop, there was suspicion of DUI. Toombs also conducted an exterior search of the vehicle with his K-9 partner Ryker. After a positive alert from K-9 Ryker, an interior search of the vehicle was conducted whereas officers located suspected cocaine, as well as suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Beard was arrested and lodged in the Logan County Detention Center by deputy Parker Rowland of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department. Beard was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, as well as other traffic charges.

Toombs is conducting the drug related incident and further charges will be brought forth pending lab results.

Toombs was assisted at the scene by deputies Rowland, Jakop Smith and officers of the Russellville Police Department.
