The calendars for the upcoming 2016-17 school years have been finalized for both the Logan County and Russellville Independent school districts.
In Russellville, the first day for students next year will be on Thursday, Aug. 4. Teachers will be reporting to work on Monday, Aug. 1.
The final day for students will be scheduled for Friday, May 19 – but, as always, that will depend on the number of days that are missed during the year for snow and other inclement weather.
The calendar has several make-up days built into the schedule to help keep the calendar on track as much as possible. Those days include Friday, Feb. 17, Friday, March 17 and Friday, April 14. May 23-26, 30-31 and June 1-2 are also designated as possible makeup days on the Russellville calendar.
Fall break is scheduled for Oct. 3-8 and spring break will be April 3-7.
“We try to align the fall break and spring break with the Logan and Todd county districts as much as possible,” said Russellville superintendent Leon Smith. “That allows the teachers and staff at the area technology center to get a bit of a break during that time too.”
In Logan County, the calendar was approved last week. For students in the county, the first day of school in the fall of 2016 will be Wednesday, July 27. Teachers will report to work on Monday, July 25.
The final day for Logan County students will tentatively be the same as the city students – Friday, May 19.
Logan County also has plenty of makeup days in its calendar in case days are missed because of inclement weather. Those include March 27-31, which is spring intercession week, and May 23-26, May 30-31, June 1-2 and June 5-7.
Fall break for Logan County will be October 3-14. Spring break will be March 27 through April 7, as long as the days in March are not needed for makeup.
