Jana Hanks says it’s that time of year again when visions of can tabs are dancing in her head.

C.K. and Jana Hanks launched the can tab for Shriners campaign many years ago, and so many people in and around Logan County, as well as surrounding counties, began dropping off their can tab collections at the offices of Hanks Construction Company in Auburn. The can tabs are collected all year and an annual donation to Shriners is made early December every year.

“Pat and Cindy Suiter of Bluegrass Recycling in Russellville jumped on board five years ago and generously committed to supporting this program with no hesitation, and making an annual donation to Shriners also,” said Jana.

Just in time for Christmas the annual donation has been presented to Rizpah Shriners in the amount of $2,000. Then a nice donation from a generous couple in Auburn made a $100 donation, making this years total to Rizpah Shriners $2,100. The can tabs weighed in at 198 pounds this year, quite a bit more than last year.

“The on-going can tab campaign continues and already since taking this years collection for recycling, collectors are bringing by more tabs already to go into next years donation,” said Jana.

Tabs may be dropped off as always at Hanks Construction Company in Auburn. For questions, Jana Hanks can be reached at 270-847-2080.

“On behalf of Hanks Construction and Bluegrass Recycling, we want to thank everyone who have supported this worthy cause and helped support Shriners Hospital for Children. Helping others is what Christmas is all about and Shriners holds a special place in our hearts,” said Jana.
