Two vehicle collision on Hwy. 100 in Simpson County claims the life of a Russellville woman.


The Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green responded to a two vehicle injury collision last night in the 3600 block of KY 100 just outside the city limits of Franklin that occurred at approx. 9:28 pm.

The preliminary investigation indicated that Courtney Mayo (25) of Russellville was operating a 2007 Nissan passenger car and was traveling westbound on KY 100 when it appeared that she crossed the centerline and collided with a 1997 Ford passenger car that was traveling eastbound and being operated by Christopher Hampton (29) of Russellville.

Ms. Mayo was ejected from her vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Simpson County Coroner’s Office. Hampton and his passenger, Demarcus Yancey (37) of Russellville, were transported by the Simpson County EMS to the Medical Center in Bowling Green for treatment of their injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing and being conducted by Trooper Shae Foley. He was assisted on the scene by Sergeant Tucker Carmichael, Troopers Joe Gregory and Ben Whitlock, Simpson County Sheriff’s Department, Simpson County EMS, Simpson County Coroner’s Office, and the Franklin-Simpson Fire and Rescue.
