A Tennessee man was arrested in Russellville on Friday night after being allegedly with having sex with an under-aged girl in the parking lot of Cornerstone Baptist Church on Highland Lick Road.
According to a police report, the Logan County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a possible missing female on Friday, Dec. 11 at approximately 10 p.m. after he mother reported that the girl had sneaked out of the house.
Deputy Parker Rowland found a silver 2001 Chevrolet Malibu in the church parking lot. Inside the vehicle was 25-year-old Armando Castro, Jr., of Portland, Tenn., and the 15-year-old girl.
According to the arrest report, Castro and the girl admitted to having sex earlier that evening and another time in January of this year.
Castro was arrested and charged with two counts of third degree rape, one count of third degree sodomy and one count of first degree sexual abuse. He was lodged in the Logan County Detention Center.
Rowland, along with deputies Robert Toombs and Ed Higgins conducted the investigation. They were assisted by the emergency room staff at Logan Memorial Hospital.
Third degree rape is defined by Kentucky law as when a person 21 years old or more engages in sexual intercourse with another person less than 16 years old. It is a Class D felony and carries with it a sentence of one to five years. Third degree sodomy is similarly defined and is also a Class D felony.
First degree sexual abuse is defined as when a person 21 years old or more subjects another person who is less than 16 years old to sexual contact and it is also a Class D felony with a sentence of one to five years.
