It’s that time of year again when giving is easy, especially if it is for a needy child. There are some, however, who give year around, and give of themselves for others as a testimony to their life. One of those is our very own Bro. Joe Carrico, who although has passed away, has left a legacy of giving seen through events that still occur close to the Christmas season.
Through Bro. Joe’s love and dedication to serving others, especially children, WRUS Radio Station AM 610, will host its annual radiothon-telethon in support of these efforts. All proceeds will benefit Bro. Joe’s Family Christmas. On Nov. 13 from 1-5 p.m. you can call in and pledge support to help purchase toys for underprivileged children in our community.
New this year is the telethon. Thanks to our local Russellville Electric Plant Baord station you will now be able to view the event as well as hear it.
Organizers are asking that you, your family, group, business or organization determine what amount you can afford to give to make sure every child in our community has a toy to open at Christmas. Logan Telephone Cooperative, Inc. has made it possible to accept your pledges and donations over the phone. Just call 270-542-TOYS (270-542-8697). You can also drop donations off at WRUS, all locations of the Auburn Banking Company, all locations of the Lewisburg Banking Company, the Electric Plant Board, the Logan County Chamber of Commerce, the Agape Foundation, Logan Telephone Coop and First Southern National Bank.
Please tune in Friday afternoon, and give whatever amount you can afford to continue the legacy of Bro. Joe’s Family Christmas.
It’s also time for the annual Bro. Joe’s Country Ham Breakfast and Silent Auction, which also benefits the Bro. Joe’s Family Christmas. Tickets for the breakfast are on sale now. A donation of $7 is asked. But you can also drop by and grab a bite that morning.
The meal consists of country ham, eggs, gravy and biscuits, and a drink for those dining in. Breakfast will be served Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, from 5:30-11 a.m. at the Logan County Ag Extension Office located at 255 John Paul Road., Russellville. You may place an order by calling 270-542-8697 or 270-726-7109, or just drop in.
All proceeds go to purchase toys and food for families in need in Logan County. The Agape Service Foundation are organizing the event.
