Russellville Independent Schools hosted the Kentucky School Boards Association Third Region meeting on Thursday, October 22. The Kentucky School Boards Association has 12 regional meetings throughout the state of Kentucky during the months of September and October. The purpose of the meeting provides opportunities for KSBA to reach out to board members across the state for additional training. There were fifteen school districts invited to the Third Region meeting. The focus of this meeting was introducing information on self-evaluation for local school boards as well as setting the direction on priorities for the next legislative session.

Davonna Page, Russellville School Board Member, is the Third Region Chairperson, and Russellville Independent Schools is the host district as long as she serves in that capacity. We were honored to have in attendance Kentucky School Boards Executive Director, Dr. Mike Armstrong, state KSBA President, Allen Kennedy, Representative Jody Richards, Representative Jim DeCesare as well as superintendents and board members from the Third Region.

Our own Stevenson Elementary SEAL Singers performed a rendition of “My Old Kentucky Home”, and all enjoyed a delicious meal catered by Sweet Temptations from Bowling Green. We are grateful for RIS Superintendent, Leon Smith, the Central Office Staff, Mrs. McGinnis’ culinary students, the Panther Caterers, and the RJSHS Ambassadors for their assistance as well.
