The Logan County Detention Center’s garden has an overabundance of Turnip Greens. The detention center will not be able to use all of the crop; therefore, jailer Phil Gregory would like to invite the public this Friday, Oct. 23 from 12-4 p.m. at the garden on 818 Payton Street in Russellville to give away some of the harvest at no charge.
The jail started the garden program earlier this year with anticipation there would be some of the crop left over to help the public. Gregory said the garden program was a huge success, and he is grateful there is some left over for the community to enjoy.
“We have been blessed with a bountiful crop this season,” said Gregory. “We are more than willing to share what has been grown to help those who need it. The inmates have worked really hard throughout the gardening season and are proud of their accomplishments.”
