The 3rd annual Creekwood Block Party & Welcome Home Elizabeth Gettings celebration will take place on Thursday, Oct. 8th at Creekwood Place, starting at 4:30 p.m.
Getting served as Creekwood’s administrator for many years. She had left recently and is now returning.
Once again this year, we will be raising money for The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. This is an organization very close to Elizabeth’s heart. Plus, Creekwood Plant Services Manager Todd Burress’s granddaughter has juvenile diabetes. Her other granddad happens to be hit singer/songwriter and 2013 America’s Got Talent Semi-Finalist Marty Brown. Marty will once again be headlining this event. Her dad, Marty Jr. will also be performing.
“For Todd, Marty Sr., and Marty Jr., this event has extra special meaning, since they have seen this first hand in their family,” said Travis Bryan, activities director for Creekwood.
Marty Sr. was on MCA Records in the 90’s and wrote the hit “I’m From the Country,” recorded by Tracy Byrd and has had songs recorded by Brooks & Dunn, Trace Adkins, and more. He will be in the studio with top producer Keith Stegall the day before this event, working on a new recording.
“Marty Jr. has shared the stage with many big time acts, including Travis Tritt,” said Bryan.
Also performing will be singer/songwriter Patrick Lee Beasley, who has won in The Texaco Country Showdown and opened for Willie Nelson, 13 year old Madison Ball, who recently got to open for Christian artist Matt Maher, and some great local talent as well.
Terry Poole will be sitting up for some karaoke and supplying the pa system. There will be inflatables, a silent auction, cake auction, games, face painting, and lots more. The event is free, but you do need to bring a lawn chair. There will be armbands sold for the inflatables. There will also be food sold, as well.
Bryan said, “all of the staff and resident’s are super excited about Elizabeth returning. Her first official day back will be Oct. 7th. So, this is really a homecoming event this year. We encourage everyone to come out and support a great cause and welcome back a great lady!”
