Logan County High School will be having its 18th Festival of Bands show Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, beginning at 4 p.m. at the Logan County High School football field. Band director David Dayton is excited about his year’s performance and invites the community out to see the Marching Cougars perform, along with 16 other bands from around the region.
The 2015 band show theme is “Day at the Derby.” Band members open the show with the playing of My Old Kentucky Home. Backdrops for this year’s show are fences and a starting gate.
“It was May and I was driving to work on Derby Day and thought this would be a cool theme for a show,” said Dayton of how he selected the show.
There are currently 85 members in the Marching Cougars, which is up from years past. Dayton said the students are doing well this year and have faced a lot of hard competition.
“The kids are progressing each week showing improvement as they go,” Dayton said. “We all are very excited about the show this year. This year we are having the most bands in a while playing at the show.”
If you’ve never been to a band show, it is something to see and hear. It’s an exciting time for students and their families and friends and is an event everyone can enjoy. Concessions of all kinds will be sold during the event as well. Cost is $5 to get into the show.
